Over the course of your lifetime, you may experience knee pain and immobility. Your knee is a complex structure that houses three different bones- the lower part of the thighbone, the upper part of the shinbone and the kneecap. Strong and supportive ligaments and tendons keep these bones in place while the cartilage provides cushion and stability. Damage of any kind to any of these regions can lead to pain and inflammation.
Causes
Common causes of knee pain include:
- Chondromalacia Patella; aka: Runner’s Knee

- Baker’s Cyst
- Collateral Ligament Injury
- Patellar Tendonitis; aka: Jumper’s Knee
- Prepatellar Bursitis
- Knee Arthritis
- Cruciate Ligament Injury
- Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
- Torn Knee Cartilage
- Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Medical conditions such as arthritis, gout and knee infections can also cause knee pain.
When to See a Doctor
Don’t prolong your suffering and schedule an appointment with us at the first sign of:
- An inability to walk normally or comfortably
- A deformed joint
- Knee aches and pains that occur at night or while at rest
- Pain that persists for more than a couple days
- An inability to bend or move your knee

- An infection- fever, rash, redness
Treatment
Before our team of chiropractors treat your whole body while targeting your knee pain, we will ask you a number of medical history related questions. These questions will allow us to better figure out the precise location of your pain, when the pain started to occur and your associated symptoms.
After the question portion of the appointment is completed, your chiropractor will examine the painful area(s) of the knee by moving it around and noting any stability, noise and/or locking issues.
