I met Meghan in the summer of 2009 – one month before my wedding. And while it was one of the happiest, most exciting times in my life, I was also devastated by all of the numbers I had started to let define me.
214: the number of pounds I weighed
18: the size of my wedding dress
8: the number of slices in a medium Papa John’s pizza (which I could easily polish off myself)
0: my self-confidence
Meghan quickly became my friend and foe. My arch nemesis and my biggest supporter. In other words: my personal trainer. She made me do things out of my comfort zone. She made me sweat. She made sitting down and raising an arm to high-five someone a challenge depending on whether the day before was a leg day or arm day. She also made me take the word ‘can’t’ out of my vocabulary. She made me reevaluate my lifestyle. She made me believe in myself, push myself and reach milestones I didn’t think I could. I’m still with Meghan in the summer of 2013. And I’m proud of the numbers that have started to define me.
100: the number of squats, leg raises, ring push ups, mountain climbers and ball tosses I can do in an hour (if Megahn is there telling me to do it)
12: the size of the dress I’m wearing to my cousin’s wedding this weekend
5: the number of minutes I can hold a wall sit
4: the number of 5Ks I’ve completed
While my weight-loss journey isn’t over (hence the labeling of “before” and “during” on my pictures), I can confidently say that Meghan has played a huge role in getting me where I am today. Having someone who works to understand your strengths and weaknesses and who knows your true limitations has been invaluable. I would encourage everyone out there who wants to better themselves to give training a shot. After all, what do you have to lose except pounds?

I have always considered myself a semi-athletic person and have always enjoyed staying active. However, a few years ago I became quite complacent and stagnant with my workouts. I was not comfortable in my body and knew that I had to do something so I could be happy in my own skin again. In February of 2012, my brother told me that if I wanted to get in great shape and feel confident with myself, he had the perfect person for me.
I will never forget my first workout with Meghan. WOW. I remember leaving the gym thinking, “Damn, who is this chick?!?” She made every workout I have ever done in my whole life seem like a stroll in the park. I had never worked out as hard as I did with Meghan. I sweat like I had never sweat in my whole life. It was incredible. Just then, I had the glimmer of hope that feeling good about myself and proud of my body was going to be possible again! I continued to work out with Meghan two to three times a week, and we focused on overall strength, training, cardio, and my favorite…ABS! Meghan is an amazing personal trainer. She always listens to you and individualizes a workout plan to best meet your needs and goals. Not only does she personalize my workouts, but she helps write a diet plan for me to follow. I have gone to many gyms, worked out with many people, and done my fair share of workout videos, but I have never felt as accomplished with a workout as I do when I’m with Meghan at Body Fusion.
