Yoga

Unifying of the self

Yoga is an ancient practice (more than 5000 years old) that helps create a sense of “union” in body, mind, and spirit. It brings us balance. Yoga is more than just physical exercise. It’s a balanced approach to the integration of body, mind, heart, and spirit, and seeks to create deeper levels of physical health and vitality, relaxation, awareness, and well-being.

Yoga into a Fit Life at Goodyear Chiropractic

Yoga and your physical life

Your body grows stronger, more toned, and more flexible as you move from one pose to the other. Because yoga helps maintain a balanced metabolism, it also helps to regulate weight. Additionally, yoga stretches muscles lengthwise, to allow for more function and flexibility.

  • Become more flexible, toned, and stronger
  • Improve respiration, energy, and vitality
  • Maintain a balanced metabolism
  • Improve cardio and circulatory health
  • Relieve pain
  • Look and feel younger than your age
  • Improve your athletic performance

Yoga and your mental life

Yoga teaches you to focus on breathing while you hold the poses. This attention to breath is calming; it dissolves stress and anxiety. Use yogic breathing on the tennis court, in the dentist's chair, when you’re stuck in traffic.

  • Become more relaxed while handling stressful situations more easily
  • Quiet your mind so you can focus your energy where you want it to go
  • Feel encouraged to think positive thoughts and feel a sense of self-acceptance

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which utilizes props to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses. Practicing poses using props provides a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. The more your body is supported in the poses the deeper the sense of relaxation.

Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation, renewal, effortlessness and ease. Blankets, bolsters, straps, and other props safely support the body in various postures which allows the body to move towards a state of balance. This practice helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension and helps to increase flexibility and body function.
